Concert will feature a set of songs with the theme of “Home”, a Beethoven violin sonata, and the flute ensemble FLUTATIOUS!. Professional flute ensemble FLUTATIOUS! will round out the evening with a program designed to showcase their versatility.  Commencing with “Praise the Lord With Flutes” by 20th-century composer Sigfrid Karg-Elert, they will also play the Presto movement from a new work entitled “Contraptions” by Zach Sheets, a young composer who is currently a student at Harvard University.   The program will also include Bartok’s “Roumanian Folk Dances” and Piazzola’s “Libertango”.  The ensemble includes flutists Flora Alexander, Jenny Cline, Cathy Garrison, Bill Hoff, Bill Hutzel and Nancy Evans Shearer, performing on several different sizes of flutes, from piccolo to bass flute.

The performance is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the program, to give those in attendance the opportunity to meet the performers. The Musical Club of Westfield, now in its 95th season, offers scholarships to promising young musicians who are pursuing a musical education. Membership in the club is open to anyone who in interested in music.  Those wishing information about membership in the Musical Club of Westfield as a performer or an associate member may call the membership chairman at 908-232-2173.
